Uz Afzal: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher and Mindfulness in Schools teacher

Uz has designed and facilitated mindfulness sessions in a wide range of contexts: at practice centres, in education, government, the charitable sector, in galleries,  at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Southbank Centre in London.

She undertook training to lead eight week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction courses at Bangor University’s Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice.

Uz began practicing mindfulness more than twenty years ago, and has followed both ancient wisdom traditions and secular approaches. As well as teaching mindfulness to adults, she teaches the Mindfulness in Schools curriculum in classrooms. Uz is also qualified as a Massage in Schools teacher.

In relation to her passion for mindfulness and stress reduction, Uz explains: “I had always been someone who found it hard to stop racing through life at top speed, let alone to stop and ‘be in the moment’. My practice of mindfulness means I can now more deeply inhabit each moment of my day.”

Uz practices in accordance with the Good Practice Guidance for Teaching Mindfulness-Based Courses published by the UK Network of Mindfulness-Based Teacher Trainers and she is listed on the UK Listing of Mindfulness Teachers and on the Be Mindful website.
